BJUSY belongs to the largest geographical USY region in North America: Emtza Region. “Emtza” means “middle” and our region stretches across the middle of the continent, from Denver to Wisconsin, and from St. Louis all thy way up to Winnipeg, Manitoba. There are a total of 17 chapters in Emtza Region with whom we will have programs with throughout the year.
High school age (9th-12th grade) teens have the opportunity to be a part of BJUSY (Beth Jacob United Synagogue Youth). USY’s motto is “To learn, to teach, to do” and BJUSY offers plenty of opportunity for all three. While regional events have their own unique appeal, most of what happens in USY is on the chapter level.

Our Most Popular Programs
Lounge Nights happen on weeknights or Shabbat afternoons. They usually have a theme and involve a fun activity, delicious food, or both!n3 First Friday Kab Shab is our monthly Shabbat program on the first Friday of every month. We'll go to shul for services together and then walk to someone's house for a potluck dinner. Cardboard Box City is our program to raise money and awareness for homelessness. We spend the night in the shul parking lot in cardboard boxes and have fun programming to learn more about the issue of homelessness. Mystery Bus Ride is when we all pile onto a magic school bus and go to various secret locations around the Twin Cities for food and activities. Then, we spend the night at shul! CMTis by far the best program of the year. It's a weekend long retreat planned for BJUSYers, by BJUSYers, and is the first weekend for our 8th graders and new members to be introduced to BJUSY. The Purimcarnival is a carnival BJUSYers plan every year. It is for the rest of the Beth Jacob but BJUSYers run all of the stations and have fun in the process!!
